Choral Scholarships
Choral scholarships are an opportunity for young singers up to the age of 18 to develop their vocal and musical skills. They are open to boys whose voices have changed (‘broken voices’), girls singing alto, and girls singing soprano from the age of 16.
Choral scholarships at St. Peter’s are awarded by audition. What we are looking for are:
- An enthusiasm for singing and music
- Some experience of singing in choirs
- Confident, clear, accurate singing voice
- Some sight-reading ability
A choral scholarship provides the opportunity to:
- sing a wide range of superb music in inspiring places
- develop and enhance your musicianship and singing
- receive excellent vocal tuition free of charge
- meet new friends with similar interests
- prepare for gap-year and university choral scholarships
- develop crucial life skills (such as confidence, teamwork, responsibility and leadership)
Choral scholars’ commitments during term-time are:
Thursday | 7 to 8pm rehearsal and tuition |
Some Sundays* | 9.15 to 11.15am rehearsal and service |
3.15 to 4.45pm rehearsal and service | |
Other times | Festivals, concerts, tours as arranged |
