Choral scholarships are an opportunity for young singers up to the age of 18 to develop their vocal and musical skills. They are open to boys whose voices have changed (‘broken voices’), girls singing alto, and girls singing soprano from the age of 16.

What we are looking for are:

  • An enthusiasm for singing and music
  • Some experience of singing in choirs
  • At least basic sight-reading ability

A choral scholarship provides the opportunity to:

  • sing a wide range of superb music in inspiring places
  • develop and enhance your musicianship and singing
  • receive excellent vocal tuition free of charge
  • meet new friends with similar interests
  • prepare for university choral scholarships
  • develop crucial life skills (such as confidence, teamwork, responsibility and leadership)

From September 2021, choral scholars’ commitments during term-time are:

Thursday7 to 8pm rehearsal and tuition
Some Sundays*9.15 to 11.15am rehearsal and service
3.15 to 4.45pm rehearsal and service
Other timesFestivals, concerts, tours as arranged
