About the Choristers
Choristerships are open to girls aged 11-18 (Years 7 to 13). Previous music experience is important – we’re pleased to hear about children who sing in their school choirs, have music lessons, or have taken music exams – but we are looking for potential rather than a polished voice. In the audition, we will be looking for:
- A love of singing and music
- A ‘musical ear’, able to discern pitch and basic harmony
- A pleasant-sounding voice
- A willingness to learn and develop their voice
- Some sight-reading ability
- Parental support for their choristership
Choristerships are free of charge. Choristers develop valuable life skills and gain self-confidence while receiving a unique musical education. Choristers gain:
- a unique and fun musical education
- excellent vocal training
- new friendships
- activities, trips, and concerts
- crucial life skills (such as confidence, teamwork, responsibility and leadership)
- reinforced academic skills (such as literacy, numeracy and languages)
- preparation for university/music college choral scholarships
- termly pay
Choristers’ commitments during term-time are:
| Thursday | 5.30 to 7.00pm Rehearsal |
| Every second Sunday | 9.15 to 11am Rehearsal and Sung Eucharist |
| Other times | Festivals, concerts, tours as arranged |
