St. Peter’s is establishing eight paid lay clerkships, beginning in June 2025. We are appointing two sopranos, two altos/counter-tenors, two tenors, and two basses. This is an exciting new opportunity for accomplished singers to sing a wide range of choral repertoire at a high standard to enhance the worshipping life of the church.

The lay clerks will normally sing either alone as an SATB octet, or as lower voices (ATB) with the choristers. Successful candidates will be experienced, trained singers, able to contribute to the ensemble and as soloists in a wide range of musical styles. While good sight-reading is an important requirement, lay clerks will be expected to have prepared the repertoire in advance of each service.

The lay clerks will normally sing on the first, third, and fourth Sunday mornings of each month, except for August, as follows:

Sundays as required9.00 to 9.45am rehearsal
10.00 to 11.00am Sung Eucharist
Other timesConcerts, tours, other events as agreed
